Luke 10:41-42- And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. We know the story of busy Martha and worshiping Mary. “Although active, practical service to God is essential and good, our first and most important task is a love and devotion that expresses itself in quiet worship, prayer and fellowship with the Lord.” This is the ‘one thing that is needful’. Do we take time to spend time with Him? He wants us to do just that. We need to set at His feet and soak up the fellowship with Him. Our days would go a lot better if we do that! I’m excited!
LORD, BE THOU MY HELPER
Psalm 30:10-12– Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Listen to David as he says “Lord, be thou my helper!” David looked to the Lord to help him and we need to also. Psalm 121:2– My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. David continued and said “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing”, wow sounds like he had a turn around! Sounds like he became “loose!”
How do we do this? We need to continue to look to the Lord, He is our help! 1 Peter 5:7- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Lord, be thou my helper!
THIRSTING FOR GOD
1/19/16 FROM PASTOR DUNN
Psalm 63:1-2– O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. One commentary said on this “those who profess to know God need to examine themselves by asking the following: Do I really possess a strong desire for God and His presence in my life? Or do I go through life largely consumed with secular pursuits and worldly entertainment, while prayer and fasting, fervent love for Jesus, study of God’s Word, and a deep desire for God and His kingdom have little place or vitality in my affections and time?” That is a good Word! We need to desire God. We need Him in our individual walk as well as in the sanctuary(church), to see His power and glory! Matthew 5:6– Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 6:33– But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
